Exceptional results from the Queensland teams at the 2025 National Futsal Championships, held from Wednesday, 8 January to Sunday, 12 January at Melbourne Sports Centres in Parkville, continue to highlight the depth of futsal talent in Queensland across all age groups and divisions.
Building on from a strong showing at the 2024 National Futsal Championships, Queensland teams continued to dominate on the court this year, further underscoring the growing strength of futsal in Queensland.
The annual tournament served as a premier stage for the country’s top futsal players to display their skills, while also offering a unique opportunity to compete against formidable opponents from across Australia.
This year, Queensland teams achieved an outstanding 69 per cent win rate in the group stages across all divisions, marking a notable improvement from the 57 per cent win rate recorded at last year’s tournament.
Football Queensland was also extremely proud to see eight of our teams making it all the way to Sunday’s showpiece grand finals, with four teams emerging as Champions, including the successful defense of our U13 Boys and Athletes with Disability (AWD) titles from the previous year.
Queensland’s continued dominance in the AWD division, in addition to successfully defending their title during this year’s tournament, further highlights Football Queensland’s commitment to providing opportunities for all athletes to succeed.
In addition to the fantastic team performances, there were several Queenslanders who won individual awards for their outstanding skills on the court, with many claiming Golden Shoes, MVP’s and selections into their respective age group’s ‘Team of the Tournament’.
Queensland’s fine performances weren’t just on the ball, with eight Queenslanders selected to referee at the tournament. Jessica Jensen was honored with the ‘Ian Timms Rookie Referee of the Tournament’ award after an outstanding performance behind the whistle over the five-day tournament.
The 2025 National Futsal Championships concluded with a presentation evening at Melbourne Zoo’s Leopard Lodge, celebrating the achievements of players, coaches, and officials.
Football Queensland congratulates all Queensland players, coaches and referees on their outstanding efforts at the National Futsal Championships and looks forward to our teams returning next year to defend their titles.
