Football Queensland is pleased to announce the appointment of Ken Mitchell to the role of Club Development Ambassador – Northern.
Mitchell brings an abundance of experience with him to FQ, serving most recently as the Director of Football at MA Olympic, with a coaching history extending back to 1998 as QAS Northern Asst Coach.
Mitchell’s other previous full-time roles include his service as FQ Regional Development Officer from 2010 – 2012, followed by a diverse tenure as Technical Director and part of clubs Technical Departments from 2011 – 2022 at various NPL clubs including most recently Wynnum Wolves.
Incoming Club Development Ambassador (CDA) Ken Mitchell said he was looking forward to connecting with local clubs, while supporting them through coach and player education.
“The Northern football community is first and foremost made up of a lot of good, genuine people wanting the best for their local community, and I aim to assist them with my experience and knowledge of the game,” Mitchell said.
“The region is home to a significant cross section of players who possess both a love of the game and professional ambition, and I am excited to assist in their development.
“Short term I’d like to see more Northern clubs embrace the development pathway, and clubs embracing FQ’s coach education model which will hopefully result in better trained coaches and therefore better-quality players.
“Long term I would like to see an increase in participation across grassroot levels, and a focus on assisting established players with their individual representative goals.”
FQ General Manager – Football and State Technical Director Gabor Ganczer said Mitchell’s appointment will contribute to Football Queensland’s ongoing commitment of providing targeted support for the long-term growth and development of clubs in the Northern region.
“We are excited to welcome Ken to the team as a Club Development Ambassador, where we are confident he will bring a wealth of knowledge and a fresh perspective to elevate local talent,” Ganczer said.
“Ken’s appointment reflects FQ’s ongoing investment in football across the Northern region, and we are delighted to welcome him to our team.”
