Football Queensland (FQ) has launched a dedicated disaster recovery and support hub to assist clubs affected by Tropical Cyclone Alfred and the severe weather conditions impacting communities across South East Queensland and Northern NSW.
FQ’s Disaster Recovery Hub provides a central platform for clubs to complete the club damage report form to submit information on any damage sustained, view important updates on grants and funding support as they become available, and connect with volunteers who are ready to offer assistance.
To streamline the recovery process and ensure relevant departments within FQ can coordinate the resumption of football activity as efficiently as possible, impacted clubs are encouraged to complete the damage reporting form within the hub. This form will help to assess the landscape, understand the extent of damage, and determine each club’s readiness to recommence and host fixtures and other forms of activity.
Football Queensland CEO Robert Cavallucci emphasised the importance of the initiative in aiding recovery efforts and reinforced FQ’s commitment to supporting those impacted throughout the football community.
“Our football community is built on resilience and togetherness, and just as we have done many times before, Queenslanders will band together to help each other through this challenging period,” Cavallucci said.
“We know that many clubs across South East Queensland will be significantly impacted by Tropical Cyclone Alfred, and Football Queensland is committed to providing as much support as possible throughout the recovery process.
“FQ’s Disaster Recovery Hub provides clubs with a central destination to outline their needs while also enabling volunteers and the wider football community to provide assistance where it is needed most.
“Once the effects of Tropical Cyclone Alfred have passed, we encourage all affected clubs to complete the damage reporting form and those in a position to help to visit the hub, see which clubs require support, and contribute in any way they can. By working together, we can ensure our football community recovers as quickly as possible and that our clubs return stronger than ever.”
Football Queensland remains committed to working alongside affected clubs and relevant local and state government authorities to ensure access to the resources and support needed for recovery, and will keep clubs informed of available funding opportunities to help rebuild facilities and restore football operations as quickly as possible.
