Football Queensland has today confirmed the further suspension of all football activity in the Darling Downs region until at least next Monday, 17 March due to the ongoing impacts of ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred.
The decision to extend the suspension of football is based on the high volume of fields remaining closed throughout the region due to severe saturation including many council fields which are closed until further notice, and will also support impacted clubs in their recovery efforts.
In line with the suspension of football, unaffected clubs are reminded of the requirement to seek explicit approval in writing from Football Queensland before recommencing training sessions this week, with approval to be granted only based on a demonstration of a club’s ability to safely host sessions through completion of the club damage report form.
To assist Football Queensland in determining a suitable plan for the resumption of competitions and fixtures, all Darling Downs clubs are asked to complete the club damage report form on FQ’s Disaster Recovery Hub as soon as it is possible and safe to do so. This will be crucial in determining each club’s readiness to recommence and host fixtures and other forms of activity including training.
Clubs are also encouraged to visit the Disaster Recovery Hub on the FQ website, which has been updated today with further information on grants and funding support available to clubs in impacted areas.
