Football Queensland has provided an update on the release of community competition draws across the state which have been delivered significantly earlier than previous seasons despite the ongoing impacts of team withdrawals and late changes, with in excess of 75,000 fixtures programmed to date for the 2025 season.
In the brief period leading up to draw release for the 2025 season, the Football Queensland competitions unit has processed 180 team withdrawals, 115 additions and 44 division swaps, with the majority of changes occurring in the last week and one region seeing 53 withdrawals, causing delays in finalising fixtures.
“Football Queensland has made significant progress in process improvements that have delivered advanced draws three months prior to season commencement and community competition draws earlier than any recent season for participants in every region, despite the significant challenges presented by the large volume of late team withdrawals and changes across the state,” FQ CEO Robert Cavallucci said.
“While FQ’s competitions team has been working hard to ensure the completion of draws as early as possible to provide certainty for our football community, every late team withdrawal or addition has a considerable impact on the fixturing process which unfortunately delays the finalisation of draws for all clubs.
“Despite these ongoing challenges, we’re pleased to have delivered a significant portion of fixtures for the 2025 season and ask for the ongoing cooperation of clubs as we work together to streamline the fixturing process and deliver timely information to participants across the state.”
In line with feedback received during club consultation in every region at the beginning of the year and based on the preference of clubs, fixtures for community competitions will be published in two blocks to accommodate U13 grading, any further re-grading required, and the entry of MiniRoos teams after Easter.
An update on the progress of community competition draws in each region is outlined in the tables below.
