The FQ Academy QAS program celebrated the 2025 season with an end-of-year awards ceremony on Sunday, 21 September, bringing together players, families and coaches.
Daisy Brown was honoured with the prestigious Sue Monteath Award as the 2025 FQ Academy QAS Player of the Year, capping off a standout season and marking her remarkable seven-year journey with the program.
“Sunday’s ceremony was all about celebrating the achievements of our FQ Academy QAS players in 2025. It was particularly special to acknowledge those who made huge strides in their development this year, including players who earned national team call-ups and progression into professional environments,” FQ Manager – FQ Academy QAS Isaka Cernak said.
The occasion was made even more memorable with the attendance of Queensland’s first ever Matildas captain, Sue Monteath, who presented her namesake award to Daisy Brown.
“To have Sue with us to present the award named in her honour was a real privilege, as the Sue Monteath Award recognises a player who shines both on and off the pitch, and Daisy was a deserving recipient, recognised for outstanding commitment to her development over many years in the program,” Cernak said.
“The ceremony also highlighted some outstanding individual achievements, with Stella Campbell named our 2025 Goalkeeper of the Year, Zahra Ahmed securing the Golden Boot for all competitions with an impressive 12 goals, and the Junior and Youth Golden Boot awards going to Sahara Jonata and Lily Punch, who both finished the season with nine goals.
“We were also proud to recognise players who have been part of the program for more than five years, acknowledging their commitment to the game and to their growth within the FQ Academy QAS.
“On behalf of Football Queensland, congratulations to all of our award winners for 2025, and a huge thank you goes to our players, their families and our dedicated coaches for another fantastic season.”
