Football Queensland has confirmed the Provisional Declaration of Leagues for Under 9 to Under 18 Boys Advanced Junior competitions for 2026.
The release of the Provisional Declaration of Leagues follows the completion of FQ’s extensive Club Assessment process in which the Club Development Unit observes, measures and assesses over 1,500 data points across 75 different criteria for each of the FQ Academy clubs.
“As we look ahead to 2026, it’s fantastic to see the strength of our advanced junior boys’ competitions continue to grow. The standard of football delivered by our young players throughout 2025 has been outstanding, and these new league structures will provide the platform for that development to keep progressing,” FQ CEO Robert Cavallucci said.
“Our Club Assessment process serves as the foundation for the structure, design, and ranking of advanced junior leagues for both boys and girls. This process provides an in-depth evaluation of each club’s junior development program and technical environment, grounded in global best practices.
“Each club’s Rank Score plays a central role in shaping these leagues, calculated primarily from the Club Assessment results with additional consideration of competition ladder points and other relevant factors.
“I want to acknowledge the ongoing commitment of our FQ Academy clubs, who continue to raise the bar in developing talented young footballers. Their work is helping us create stronger pathways and world-class environments for the next generation of Queensland players.”
A club’s participation in FQ Academy leagues for the 2026 season is contingent upon confirmation of a club’s FQ affiliation, and approval and compliance with various conditions (mandatory or otherwise) contained within FQ advanced junior participation licence agreements. Participation is not guaranteed to any club in any league until the final Declaration of Leagues is made by FQ and the club is invited to complete a licence agreement. Some clubs’ Rank Score may be still under review.
