Football Queensland is excited to launch the FQ Murri Cup, a celebration of First Nations cultures which will showcase the skill and passion of Queensland’s Indigenous footballers across two days.
Welcoming teams from across the state, the inaugural FQ Murri Cup will be held at Nudgee Recreation Reserve on Saturday, 28 November and Sunday, 29 November and will also feature a Coles MiniRoos activation, a Charles Perkins XI Talent ID session and a community stallholder zone.
“The FQ Murri Cup will bring together First Nations players, families and communities for a two-day celebration, providing a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge the contributions of First Nations participants within our game,” FQ CEO Robert Cavallucci said.
“We look forward to welcoming some of Queensland’s most talented Indigenous footballers to Nudgee Recreation Reserve in November in a tournament that will showcase both established players and emerging talent, with expressions of interest open for individuals and teams across the state.
“Football Queensland is proud to launch the FQ Murri Cup to celebrate the connection between football and First Nations Queenslanders after working closely with Football Australia’s National Indigenous Advisory Group including NIAG Member Ramone Close, and Football Australia’s General Manager – First Nations Courtney Fewquandie.
“A number of activations are also planned across the weekend in addition to the on-field action, providing an opportunity for the wider football community to get involved as we come together for two days of football, culture and community.”
Expressions of interest are now open for individuals and teams wishing to participate in the inaugural FQ Murri Cup.
