Football Queensland has launched a game-changing club referee framework, boosting referee numbers within clubs across the state by making it easier than ever to become an official club referee through a simple, 30-minute process.
“Football Queensland’s record investment and 10-point referee plan delivers a newly launched, free online module, providing essential training and certification for club referees in a simplified process that removes barriers to becoming a match official, allowing young referees to start their officiating journey within their club before progressing into the FQ referee system,” FQ CEO Robert Cavallucci said.
“The new club referee framework will provide a supportive and welcoming environment, creating a pipeline of referees within clubs at the grassroots level while helping Queensland clubs deliver the 1 referee for 1 team ratio that will support the sustainable growth of referee numbers across the state.
“The new weekly referee appointments process transitions the game to a coordinated and collaborative approach between FQ, referees and clubs, ensuring an integrated lead-up to match days as the new club referee framework plays a critical role in addressing the increasing demand for match officials across the state with participation numbers continuing to grow.
“As we welcome new referees to our game, they will also benefit from structured learning and support within their club thanks to the new club referee framework alongside access to Football Queensland resources and training to bolster their development.”
