Football Queensland is inviting expressions of interest from members of the statewide football community to join the State Referees Committee (SRC). 

The State Referees Committee plays an important role in contributing to the development of strategies and policies to support the recruitment, retention and support of match officials across the state. 

“Becoming a member of the State Referees Committee is a wonderful opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development of refereeing in Queensland at an exciting time for our game as we continue to roll out Football Queensland’s game-changing 10-point referee plan,” FQ CEO Robert Cavallucci said. 

“The State Referees Committee provides advice on the implementation of referee initiatives including the recently launched club referee program, helping to deliver meaningful outcomes for match officials across Queensland. 

“With the structure of the committee designed to accommodate members of the football community from every part of the state, we encourage expressions of interest from individuals with knowledge of regional and South East Queensland to ensure the State Referees Committee reflects the voice of match officials across our game.” 

The SRC operates under the following guidelines and criteria:  

• A demonstration that you have a clear understanding of referee matters, however you do not necessarily have to be a current or former referee.  

• This position is on a volunteer basis with no remuneration.  

• Meeting agendas will include both state as well as region specific issues.  

• The Committee will consist of a maximum of six members, with representation from across refereeing and non-refereeing communities. 

• Football Queensland’s Referee Manager (or equivalent) will be a committee member (ex-officio).  

• Appointments for all Committee positions (except Referee Manager) will be made on a 12 monthly basis.  

• Committee composition will seek to reflect Football Queensland’s strategic priority of achieving 50/50 gender diversity on all boards and committees. 

• The Committee meet a minimum of four times per year, which may be increased depending on workload.   

• Meetings will be generally held online for remote participation; however, if face to face meetings are required, Football Queensland will pay for travel. 

Applications can be made via the State Referees Committee Expression of Interest Form and will close at 5pm on Monday, 10 August.
