The Football Queensland (FQ) Futsal State Titles are returning to Brisbane for an action-packed weekend of futsal beginning on Saturday, 9 October 2021.
The two-day tournament will be held at the Nissan Arena in Nathan and the Anna Meares Velodrome in Chandler.
“Futsal is fast, fun, exciting and accessible, and the State Titles are one of the pinnacle events in the futsal calendar, showcasing the most talented players from across Queensland,” said FQ CEO Robert Cavallucci.
“As outlined in FQ’s 2020-2022 Futsal Strategy, we are determined to grow futsal participation by strengthening our clubs, improving access to infrastructure and building capability and capacity of administrators.
“Alongside the SEQ Futsal Premier League, the State Titles are a vital participation development pathway for futsal in this state.
“Male and female participants aged 12 and up will have the opportunity to be selected for State Metro squads, so competition will no doubt be fierce for both team and individual honours.”
FQ Futsal Administrator Trevor Edwards said futsal players from around the state were eager to hit the courts after the cancellation of the 2021 Futsal National Championships due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I know futsal players from across Queensland can’t wait to get back to the game they love after such a long layoff due to coronavirus restrictions,” said Edwards.
“The FQ Futsal State Titles provide the opportunity to showcase some of the best players from our clubs and regions, and bring them together to play against their peers.
“We are pleased to have secured two venues on the southside of Brisbane. We encourage all futsal fans to get out and support the young players as they compete to become champions of their age group, and the overall champion club.”
Club applications will open on Friday, 7 May 2021. For more information, contact Trevor Edwards at futsal@footballqueensland.com.au.
