Football Queensland will play host to Queensland’s largest football carnival as the inaugural WinterFest event kicks off tomorrow, Wednesday 7 July.
In partnership with Logan City Council, FQ’s WinterFest will be held across four days and encompass nine fields across Meakin Park, Mappas Oval and Logan Rugby, welcoming participants and families from across the state.

“WinterFest is set to be a wonderful celebration of our beautiful game, with something for all members of the family to enjoy,” FQ CEO Robert Cavallucci said.
“A special thank you to Logan City Council for their support of our inaugural WinterFest event.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming Queenslanders from across the state to Logan for what is set to be a fantastic four days of football, and I hope to see some of you around the grounds throughout the event.”
As part of WinterFest, the SAP State Carnival will see over 180 teams from across the state participate in more than 860 matches as some of Queensland’s most promising young footballers showcase their skills.
500 boys and girls aged 13 to 16 from Far North, North, Mackay, Central Queensland, Wide Bay and South West regions will play alongside teams from Brisbane Roar Academy and QAS, and Select U13/U14 and U15/U16 teams from the NPL Queensland Women’s competition.

In addition to the SAP State Carnival, Walking Football come and try sessions and a mixed social carnival will be held at Meakin Park, which participants of all abilities and skill levels are welcome to attend.
A MiniRoos holiday clinic will provide an opportunity for boys and girls aged 4 to 11 to give football a go in a fun and inclusive environment, while a free MiniRoos coaching course will be held at Meakin Park on Thursday.
Off the field, attendees will be able to get an autograph from Brisbane Roar FC players at Friday afternoon’s meet and greet or challenge their friends to a game of FIFA 21 at the eSports pop-up zone on Saturday, while a range of food and drinks will be available from a host of food trucks at the venue.
A number of COVID Safe measures will be in place at the event, including hand sanitiser stations at entry and exit points, sanitisation of match balls at the end of every game, and a requirement to sign in and maintain social distancing while on site.
Attendees are reminded of the requirement to follow the Queensland Government restrictions currently in place, including wearing a mask at all times unless you are alone outdoors or with members of your household.
