Welcome to the FQ Academy Inter-conference Carnival
Welcome to Mackay and the 2026 Football Queensland Inter‑Conference Carnival, proudly hosted at Mackay Football Park and supported by Mackay Regional Council. We are delighted to once again bring together players, referees, coaches and supporters from across the Northern and Central Conference FQ Academy programs for four exciting days of football development and competition.
Football Queensland wishes to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we gather, the Yuwibara people. We pay our respects to their Elders, past, present and emerging, and we extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
This year marks an exciting evolution for the Inter‑Conference Carnival, with an expanded four‑day schedule providing more meaningful match minutes, increased inter‑regional competition, and enhanced talent identification opportunities. The carnival continues to play a vital role in the regional FQ Academy pathway, offering many young players their first experience competing against teams from across the state and allowing our coaches and technical staff additional time to monitor and support player progression.
The FQ Academy remains the only pathway in Queensland recognised by Football Australia for selection to state and national representative teams. Events like this ensure that every talented player whether from Cairns, Hervey Bay, Mackay, Rockhampton, the Whitsundays, or Mt Isa has the opportunity to be seen and to develop within a high‑performance environment.
As always, we ask all participants and supporters to help us maintain a positive, safe and enjoyable environment. Please remember to support players respectfully encourage them, don’t coach from the sidelines, and never heckle, abuse, or intimidate any participant. This carnival is built around learning, development and enjoyment, and we thank everyone for playing their part in upholding these standards.
We extend our sincere thanks to Mackay Regional Council for their ongoing partnership and for welcoming the football community back to their vibrant region. We hope you take the opportunity to explore everything Mackay has to offer during your stay.

Mayoral Welcome
Mackay is proud to once again host the expanded 2026 FQ Academy Inter‑Conference Carnival.
We’re delighted to welcome players, coaches, referees, families and supporters from across Queensland as the Carnival returns to Mackay Football Park in April 2026. This year’s move to a four‑day format creates even greater opportunities for match play, development and talent identification across Football Queensland’s Regional Academies.
Mackay Regional Council is very proud to again support Football Queensland with this key event on their annual calendar, which draws players from across regional areas.
By expanding the Carnival to four days, it gives visitors a tremendous opportunity to explore what our region has to offer – from natural attractions like Eungella, Cape Hillsborough and the Sarina Beaches, to facilities such as the Sarina Sugar Shed, Artspace Mackay and our beautiful Waterfront.
Council is committed to supporting local sporting pathways and promoting healthy, active lifestyles, and events like this play an important role in the growth of our young athletes. Football is a hugely popular sport with junior players, and we are thrilled to have so many competitors and supporters here to enjoy both the excitement of the Carnival and the beauty of our region.
We wish all participants a fantastic four days of football and look forward to welcoming you back to the Mackay region again soon.

FA SPECTATOR CODE OF CONDUCT
Welcome to the FQ Academy Inter-conference Carnival
Welcome to Mackay and the Football Queensland Inter-Conference Carnival bringing together players from the Northern and Central Conference FQ Academy Junior and Youth programs.
Football Queensland wishes to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we gather, the Yuwibara people. We pay our respects to their Elders, past, present and emerging, and we extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Following a disrupted start to the football year due to wet weather impacts across many northern regions in Queensland, this carnival offers an important opportunity for greater match opportunities for players from a very wide range of communities, from Hervey Bay to Cairns, and out to Mt Isa. For some players in the older age groups, the carnival also serves as an additional opportunity to be considered for State selection for tournaments later in the year.
This year’s event continued to grow, with the tournament extending across four days across all age groups, and we are very excited to welcome over 1200 participants, coaches, spectators and officials to Mackay.
Whilst we promote the following point every year, it still remains something that we must be vigilant about insisting on, and that is that all participants are respected for their involvement and treated and spoken to accordingly. Spectators, please support, don’t coach, heckle, abuse, and intimidate players at any time. The carnival is very much about letting the players play, with coaches providing tasks and challenges to them, but letting the players enjoy the game.
We wish everyone an enjoyable and memorable weekend of football in Mackay.
