In 2020, Football Queensland is launching a professional, consistent and unified competition across Brisbane for male and female players across various age divisions; Women’s Over 30’s, Men’s Over 35’s and Men’s Over 45’s.
The new Football Queensland Masters League will incorporate the already successful Lions FC’s Queensland Masters League (QMF) on the south side of Brisbane to create a standardised and unified competition alongside FQ who will be delivering the competition on Brisbane’s North.
Rob Scanlon Lions FC General Manager said “Lions FC has been running the QMF league for over 20 years and we have seen it grow from strength to strength over this period. With over 1300 players registered and over 50 referees taking part in the program it is one of the biggest Masters competitions in the country. “
“It is great to see Football Queenslad take an interest in trying to unify the Masters programs so we can all offer a better product to our customers. Due to this QMF and Lions FC are pleased to team up with Football Queensland to ensure we continue to offer the best services and competitions to our players, coaches and officials” Scanlon said.
Clubs can benefit from hosting Masters Football teams by increasing participation numbers, building club culture and offering opportunities for more people to have access to the game.
