What is walking football?
Walking Football is a small-sided, modified version of the game, suitable for all levels of ability and fitness, from people who are returning to sport after a break to those who’ve never played before.
Walking Football is a low-impact, team-based exercise, utilising the defined ‘Walking Football Rules and Formats,’ specifically non-contact with the players ‘always having one foot on the ground’.
Walking Football aims to provide participants with physical & mental health benefits, social connectedness and promotion of the advantages of ongoing physical activity.
Come & Try

Programs
Walking Football programs focus on passing rather than speed/running. Matches are played on smaller pitches with modified formats (5v5/6v6) and shortened game times.
Clubs and centres across the state host weekly Walking Football sessions for those wanting to play regularly.
Tournaments & Carnivals
Football Queensland hosts many social Walking Football tournaments and carnivals throughout the year, with players and teams of all abilities and skill levels welcome to join in.
Two ability groups to choose from:
Social – Open Ages for Social Mixed, can include new players to the game
Competitive – Age Groups (over 50s) (over 60s) to apply (IF) numbers permit

Moreton City snatch it late to control their destiny💛⚡
Down 3–1 and staring down defeat, @moretoncityexcelsiorfc refused to quit, showing that never-give-up Queensland mentality right to the final whistle. A 96th-minute equaliser from a corner sealed a dramatic 3–3 draw and kept MCE in pole position to qualify for the Australian Championships knockouts, with one group game to go this Friday at Perry Park.

The FQ Club Value Index, in place for the last 5 years and linked to the FQ Academy club assessment process, provides valuable insights into the overall value delivered by FQ Academy club programs when their club registration fees are modelled alongside the technical and development outcomes delivered by the club ⚽
The index offers a unique assessment of how clubs across, and within, each Shield group are managing variability in their cost bases while delivering the various technical elements associated with their ambitions and positioning, and how that translates into program fees.
Built from the same data set as the Club Rank Score, the Club Value Index uses each club’s assessment score (not club rank score) as the basis for its determination. FQ Academy fees are analysed for both boys and girls programs, mapping average, highest and lowest fees across all participating clubs.
The algorithm applies a weighted score across Shields to recognise the investment differential between Gold, Silver and Bronze programs resulting in a score ranking each club in ascending order, revealing clubs who have invested across both girls and boys demonstrate significant value outcomes.
Football Queensland acknowledges that no two clubs are the same, with factors such as varying input costs impacted by local government areas, constrained green space that may limit expansion, and deliberate pricing and positioning strategies all influencing program fees. Despite this, there is a strong level of harmonisation across the data set variables, highlighting how clubs continue to successfully balance input cost variability while delivering quality development environments across Queensland.

Football Queensland is driving innovation in community fixturing for the 2026 season as right across Queensland, community competition draws will be published in early December up to 4 months before season commencement 📅
The transformed process will deliver clubs and participants certainty whilst maintaining flexibility for growth, alleviating pressure on club administrators by minimising the impacts of volatile late team additions and withdrawals.
