What is walking football?
Walking Football is a small-sided, modified version of the game, suitable for all levels of ability and fitness, from people who are returning to sport after a break to those who’ve never played before.
Walking Football is a low-impact, team-based exercise, utilising the defined ‘Walking Football Rules and Formats,’ specifically non-contact with the players ‘always having one foot on the ground’.
Walking Football aims to provide participants with physical & mental health benefits, social connectedness and promotion of the advantages of ongoing physical activity.

Come & Try
If you’re thinking about giving Walking Football a go or know someone who is, come down to our FREE come & try sessions to get a taste of the newest format of our game.
Programs
Walking Football programs focus on passing rather than speed/running. Matches are played on smaller pitches with modified formats (5v5/6v6) and shortened game times.
Clubs and centres across the state host weekly Walking Football sessions for those wanting to play regularly.
Tournaments & Carnivals
Football Queensland hosts many social Walking Football tournaments and carnivals throughout the year, with players and teams of all abilities and skill levels welcome to join in.
Two ability groups to choose from:
Social – Open Ages for Social Mixed, can include new players to the game
Competitive – Age Groups (over 50s) (over 60s) to apply (IF) numbers permit

This year’s theme, 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑵𝒆𝒙𝒕 𝑮𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏: 𝑺𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒈𝒕𝒉, 𝑽𝒊𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 & 𝑳𝒆𝒈𝒂𝒄𝒚, celebrates young First Nations leaders shaping a bold and vibrant future. Football is more than a game. It is a platform for identity, pride and opportunity. Across Queensland it plays a vital role in empowering the next generation to lead, inspire and carry forward a legacy built on culture and community.
