South Brisbane have become the first Queensland club to win Puma F-League silverware after surging to a maiden Women’s premiership at Eagles Sports Complex.
Convincing victories over Bayside Pirates and Boomerangs sealed top spot with two rounds still remaining in the regular season.
Leading fellow Queensland club Galaxy FC by five points ahead of the weekend, South Brisbane maintained their advantage after Saturday’s matches as Sofie Persson’s first half brace and a four-goal second half accounted for the Melbourne-based Pirates.

With Galaxy – who also notched a double over the visiting pair – ready to pounce on any slip-up, South Brisbane still needed another three points on Sunday to sew up the title.
Last year’s beaten Grand Finalists duly obliged by wrapping up the premiership in style with a 9-0 whitewash of Canberra’s Boomerangs.
Club stalwart Sarah Amorim was again prominent as the team notched its ninth straight match without defeat and extended its unbeaten run in Queensland to 17.
With one home match still to play, South Brisbane will be full of confidence heading into the four-team Finals Series.
They will be joined by Galaxy who are on course to make it a Queensland double in the top two.
The Gold Coast side have won eight of 13 fixtures to sit nine points clear of third-placed Dural Warriors, albeit having played three extra matches.
The top four dream is unfortunately over for Galaxy’s Men after their 3-1 defeat to Boomerangs on Saturday night kept them five points adrift of fourth-placed Inner West Magic.
South Brisbane sit one place behind following a 3-3 draw against the same opposition, where Jordan Vieira’s late equaliser secured a deserved point.
Both teams do boast Golden Boot contenders with South Brisbane’s Adam Stacey (15) and Galaxy’s Samim Rohani (12) still in contention ahead of their respective final matches at home to Vic Vipers in two weeks’ time.
