Brisbane Roar showed plenty of passion and finesse as they faced off against the in-form Melbourne City in two states.
HYUNDAI A-LEAGUE
Brisbane Roar FC have taken a point after a frustrating draw against Melbourne City at AAMI Park on Saturday night.
Jamie Maclaren’s first-half goal was later cancelled out by City’s Nicholas Colazo, seeing the scoreline finish 1-1 in a game flooded with goal-scoring opportunities.
Head Coach John Aloisi was pleased with his side’s response after conceding early in the second half and believes Roar had their chances to win the match.
“In the first half I don’t think we kept the ball as well as we could have, we didn’t shift them enough,” Aloisi said.
“We started to do that in the second half and we started to play the way we know how to.
The Roar are now undefeated in their past seven Hyundai A-League fixtures.

Brisbane Roar Women have suffered a 2-1 defeat to defending Champions Melbourne City despite a valiant performance on Sunday afternoon.
The Roar took the game to their undefeated opponents with a spirited display in front of 1,327 people at A.J. Kelly Park.
The hosts created the majority of chances and outplayed their opponents in large portions of the match but clinical finishing from City saw the three points head to Melbourne.
Head Coach Mel Andreatta was disappointed to not take three points from such a promising performance and praised her squad for their efforts across the entire 90 minutes.
“We are a team that goes into every match with intent to win,” Andreatta said.
“We are disappointed because we had our opportunities and we didn’t take all of them today but it is very heartening and very, very promising for our upcoming matches.”

Brisbane Roar’s highly anticipated clash against Melbourne City was rescheduled after heavy rainfall struck the south-east corner on Saturday afternoon.
Due to the competition regulations the match will be replayed in full at a date to be advised.
The wash-out marks a second straight weekend without a competitive game for Young Roar after the previous round’s bye.
It’s also the second time they have fallen foul of the weather after their season opener against Melbourne Victory was also rescheduled due to rain.
