Queensland’s best female futsal players will have the opportunity to represent the state at the inaugural Gold Coast Futsal International Challenge next year.
The international futsal tournament will be hosted by Gold Coast Futsal Association in January 2019 with the support of Football Queensland (FQ) and will run alongside the Craig Foster Cup.
The players representing Queensland will be selected from those competing in the South East Queensland Futsal Premier League (SEQFPL) open women’s competition kicking off next month.
The US Futsal National Team and the New Zealand Futsal Ferns have been invited to the Gold Coast to compete against Australian state teams.
FQ Futsal Administrator Trevor Edwards said the Gold Coast Futsal International Challenge will give talented female futsal players in Queensland the opportunity to represent their state at an elite level.
“We are excited to support Gold Coast Futsal Association in hosting this fantastic initiative for women’s futsal in Australia,” Edwards said.
“The inaugural event will provide our women’s futsal players the opportunity to play against international teams and other state member federation teams.”
The event will invite Australia’s best female futsal players to represent Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia, Tasmania and the ACT at the tournament.
The Gold Coast Futsal International Challenge will be held at the Gold Coast between 17 January and 21 January 2019. For more information, click here.
