Galaxy FC are on the cusp of Premiership glory, only needing one point this weekend against Arana United to claim the South East Queensland Futsal Premier League (SEQFPL) Premiership.
Current Golden Boot leader Dallas Dack has been instrumental in the club’s success so far this season, scoring 31 goals in nine games to drive his team to the top of the ladder.
20-year-old Dack scored a stunning 15 goals in Galaxy’s Round 6 win over Bundaberg Futsal and said that match was one of the highlights of his season so far.
“Scoring the 15 goals against Bundaberg was definitely one of the highlights, but I’ve been playing well so far this season and the team is still going strong from last season so I’m just enjoying it all,” Dack said.
While he has been playing futsal since the age of 13, Dack believes this year he has gained a new level of confidence in his ability to find the back of the net.
The confidence has paid off, with Dack scoring in all but one game so far this season.
Trailing him on the Golden Boot ladder are teammates Rhys Buick and Adam Stacey, who sit five and seven goals behind him respectively.
Dack admitted there has been some friendly competition between him and his teammates when it comes to scoring goals this season.
“It has been quite competitive between us, especially with Rhys and I,” Dack said.
Friendly competition aside though, Dack believes he and his teammates have what it takes to go all the way to the SEQFPL Grand Final.
“We’re feeling pretty confident heading into finals, I think as long as we’ve got our team here turning up we’re a good chance,” Dack said.
Galaxy FC have fallen to defeat only once this season, at the hands of Sunshine Coast Wave in their Round 9 game last weekend.
Sunshine Coast Wave are also the only team to hold Galaxy FC to a draw this year and Dack said they will pose the biggest challenge to his team come finals time.
“I would say Sunshine Coast Wave would be our biggest rival. I’ve played with most of the boys and they’re always our rivals,” Dack said.
“It’s always a tough game against them but I always look forward to it.”
With just one game of the regular season remaining, Dack and his Galaxy FC team only need a draw to secure the SEQFPL Premiership for 2018.
Galaxy FC host Arana United this Saturday, 1 December at the Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre in the final round of the SEQFPL regular season.
