Football Federation Australia (FFA) has announced Gold Coast-raised Kate Jacewicz will officiate her ninth Westfield W-League Grand Final when she takes the whistle for Saturday’s Championship decider between Sydney FC and Perth Glory at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium, Kogarah.
Assistant referee Renae Coghill, also from the Gold Coast, and Brisbane-based additional assistant referees Rebecca Durcau and Casey Reibelt round out a strong Queensland contingent of match officials alongside assistant referee Sarah Ho (NSW) and fourth official Ellie Hayes (NNSW).
It’s set to be a big 2019 for Jacewicz, who recently returned from a two-week referees camp in Doha, Qatar with Reibelt in preparation for this year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.
“Kate’s performances in the Westfield W-League this season again show why she is so well regarded internationally,” FFA Director of Referees Ben Wilson said.
“I would like to congratulate Kate and all the match officials appointed to the Grand Final and I look forward to an entertaining match.”
Jacewicz, who played and refereed her junior football at Mudgeeraba Soccer Club on the Gold Coast, was excited about being appointed to referee the Westfield W-League 2019 Grand Final.
“I’d like to thank Ben and Jacqui [Hurford] for their support this season and I am thankful for this opportunity,” Jacewicz said.
“It is always very special to be appointed to the Grand Final. Every season we have seen the league improve, with this year being the most competitive end that I have seen.
“Sydney FC and Perth Glory each possess big game players and I’m excited to see what that will produce. I am really looking forward to an enjoyable match and refereeing with this top class referee team.”
