After a two week break the Football Queensland Premier League (FQPL) is back this weekend for Round 7 with the Match of the Round between Wolves FC and Mitchelton FC kicking things off.
The FQPL Match of the Round can be viewed live and on demand on the FQ website, FQ Facebook and FQ YouTube channel.
Before the break, Wolves had a 2-1 win over Souths United while Mitchelton suffered a 2-0 loss to Ipswich Knights and will be looking for their first win since Round 3 come Saturday night.
The break could come as a blessing in disguise for some teams but for others it could halt their momentum.
Wolves will be hoping for their first back-to-back win of the season which would launch them up the table past Mitchelton with only one point separating the two teams.
The last time they played each other Mitchelton came away with 5-1 win, which was back in Round 18 last season.
MATCH DETAILS
Wolves FC v Mitchelton FC
Saturday, April 27, 6pm
Carmichael Park, Tingalpa
Other key matches:
Ipswich Knights v Rochedale Rovers
Just two points separate the Knights and Rovers with a win seeing the latter jump above Knights on the table. However, Knights have the chance to solidify their top four spot if they are able to come away with three points.
Capalaba FC v Souths United
In a tight top half of the table, which sees sixth to first separated by four points, all points are vital. The Bulldogs will be looking to pick up where they left off, recording a three game unbeaten streak before the break.
Players to watch:
Ben Njie (Rochedale Rovers): The Rochedale forward sits just one goal behind the joint-Golden Boot leaders so will be looking to add to his tally this round. He’s the top goal scorer in his team with five goals to his name.
Robert Irving (Wolves FC): Having made the Team of the Week (TOTW) in Round 6, the Wolves captain will play a pivotal role for his side this weekend.
Rhys Meredith (Logan Lightning): His club sits on top of the table after beating Sunshine Coast Wanderers last round with his performance in that game earning him a TOTW spot for Round 6. The midfielder will be looking to continue this form for the rest of the 2019 season.
