Football South West Queensland and Football Stanthorpe have announced that Brisbane Roar FC Westfield W-League Head Coach Mel Andreatta will visit Stanthorpe in September for a female-centred coaching workshop.
The Westfield Matildas Assistant Coach will be in the region on Sunday, 1 September to conduct the workshop at C F White Oval, in conjunction with Football South West Queensland’s Regional Development Officer David Nugent.
The workshop will be conducted as part of Football Federation Australia’s Female Coach Mentoring Program.
A squad of young players hailing from Stanthorpe will be utilised for the workshop, which will focus on ‘Player Centred Game Awareness’ involving the starting positions for numerous attacking options.
Nugent said Andreatta’s visit to the region will be a fantastic opportunity for the football community in Stanthorpe.
“Not only will this workshop give young local female football players the opportunity to work with recognised and experienced coaches, but it will also provide a great occasion for local coaches and followers of the World Game to witness this prime educational event,” Nugent said.
Andreatta, who recently returned from the FIFA Women’s World Cup in France with the Australian women’s team, holds an Asia A Advanced Coaching Licence and has previously coached the U17 Junior Matildas, in addition to her role as Assistant Coach with the Matildas.
Andreatta also led the Brisbane Roar Westfield W-League side to the 2017/2018 Premiership and was named the 2018/2019 Female Coach of the Season.
