The third and fourth rounds of the Men’s South East Queensland Futsal Premier League (SEQ FPL) will be held this Saturday, 26 October at the University of the Sunshine Coast Stadium.
Two weeks after the first two rounds of the SEQ FPL and following a weekend off, Lions FC, EliteFoot, Galaxy FC, Sunshine Coast Wave and Ipswich Futsal will come up against each other in hopes of gaining places on the ladder.
ROUND 3:
Lions FC v EliteFoot – 10:15am
Currently sitting in first place, Lions FC started their 2019 FPL campaign in dramatic fashion. They faced Ipswich Futsal in their Round 1 match and triumphed with a blistering 11-2 win.
Dane Stokes and Samuel Ballschmieter both earned hat-tricks while Elliot Brown snagged a brace and Alister Ballschmieter scored one goal to take the total to 11 goals scored.
The team’s Round 2 match was a different story though. They secured a 3-3 draw against Sunshine Coast Wave who had a bye in Round 1.
Meanwhile, EliteFoot had mixed results in Round 1 and 2. In their first game, they fell to Galaxy FC in a close 4-3 loss. They returned to better fortune in their Round 2 match against Ipswich Futsal with an impressive 8-3 win.
Sunshine Coast Wave v Galaxy FC – 3:15pm
Currently sitting in fourth place on the ladder, Sunshine Coast only have a draw to their name. But with a pool of talented players including NPL Young Player of the Year nominee Jez Lofthouse in the squad, the team have great potential for the 2019 SEQ FPL season and will look to record their first win this weekend.
Galaxy FC are sitting in third place on the ladder after their close Round 1 win against EliteFoot after goals from Benjamin Bordin and Joseph Siva secured the win.
ROUND 4:
EliteFoot v Sunshine Coast Wave – 12:45pm
EliteFoot currently sit in second place on the ladder, just one point behind Lions FC while Sunshine Coast Wave sit in fourth.
With both teams playing their other matches earlier in the day, fatigue and fitness could be the key in deciding who will triumph in this match.
Ipswich Futsal v Galaxy FC – 7:00pm
Having lost both their Round 1 and 2 matches and currently sitting in fifth place on the ladder, Ipswich Futsal are looking to turn their form around.
They could have the upper hand with fitness as they are only playing one game on Saturday, while Galaxy will play their Round 3 match earlier in the day.
PLAYERS TO WATCH:
Samuel Ballschmieter (Lions FC): After scoring four goals across both Round 1 and Round 2 matches, S. Ballschmieter will no doubt look to add more to his tally this weekend.
