Football Federation Australia (FFA) and Capital Football have confirmed that the 2020 FFA National Futsal Championships, scheduled for Canberra from 13-17 January, will proceed as planned.
With the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Canberra forecast to be ‘good’ for the next seven days and following extensive discussions with the competing member federations and venues, the decision was made to go ahead with the Championships.
The AQI in venues will be closely monitored to ensure that FFA standards are met, with the safety of players, officials and spectators of paramount importance.
With more than a thousand people from interstate expected to come to Canberra for the event, the advice to those driving is to exercise caution and closely monitor the bushfire situation through the NSW Rural Fire Service and Country Fire Authority Victoria.
The safety and wellbeing of all involved is paramount to Football Queensland.
We will continue to take advice from FFA and Capital Football on the air quality and advice from State Government and Emergency Services relevant to the welfare of our players and their families and wider touring party, including physios, referees, managers and coaches.
Information on the National Futsal Championships can be found at the 2020 FFA National Futsal Championships website.
Our thoughts and best wishes remain with those people across Australia who have been directly impacted by the devastating bushfires.
Donations to bushfire and drought appeal can be made to any of the recognised charity partners recommended by FFA.
