UPDATE ON 2027 PLAYER ENROLMENT FEES
Football Queensland acknowledges recent concerns raised by clubs, participants and the broader football community regarding the proposed introduction of a Competition Access Fee (CAF) from 2027.
In place of the CAF, Football Queensland will implement a revised and significantly simplified fee structure for 2027. The revised model incorporates a service fee consisting of technology and transaction costs which are not retained by Football Queensland and maintains the existing enrolment process while introducing only a modest increase to Football Queensland’s enrolment fee component for the first time in seven years.

Service Fee and Enrolment Costs
We have around 5,000 volunteers registered, but we know the true number of individuals contributing to our game in a volunteer capacity is closer to 30,000 across the state.
We urge every volunteer in Queensland to register through Squadi to ensure we can provide them with the direct support and resources they need and acknowledge their contributions, while also providing them with insurance cover.
As a registered volunteer, you are:
- Covered by FQ insurance policies
- Able to receive support and resources from FQ
- Eligible for Volunteer of the Month Awards
- Eligible for annual Football in Queensland Awards
- Included in new recognition initiatives
- Eligible for long service recognition
Find your local club and register today through Squadi.
Following feedback from the community and after further consultation with the Football Queensland Congress, the FQ Board has confirmed it will retain the existing 2026 fee structure for the 2027 season.
After seven years without an increase to player enrolment fees, modest adjustments have been made for 2027 to reflect inflation and changes in how transaction and technology costs are treated. We know decisions like these have a real impact on people across our game.
We are committed to acting in the best interests of the game, while listening carefully to our community. We won’t always get things right, and in this case we accept that we could have done better. When we need to, we are prepared to do things differently, reconsider our approach and keep working towards the best outcome for football across Queensland.
