As all teams try to establish some winning form early in the season, sides will meet for the first time in 2020 in Round 3 of the National Premier Leagues (NPL) Queensland Women’s competition.
All Round 3 matches this weekend will be available to watch live and on demand on the FQ YouTube channel.
Feature Match: Lions FC v Capalaba FC
Lions FC will be hungry for victory as they come up against Capalaba FC in the NPL Women’s Feature Match this weekend after a frustrating draw with Gap FC in last week’s Round 2 clash.
The only team to hand Lions a defeat in their stellar 2019 season, Gap FC provided a worthy challenge for the reigning Premiers as a 75th minute goal prevented a Lions win despite a brace from both Mariel Hecher and Tegan Riding.
This means the side’s only win so far this season comes as a result of a Souths United forfeit in Round 1, and Capalaba FC will look to capitalise come this weekend.
With two wins from two matches with Skie Hanifin at the helm, Capalaba FC have started their season in strong form.
Netting seven goals in their first two matches and conceding only 1, Capalaba have looked one of the best sides in the opening rounds of the NPL Women’s as players like Katy Couperus, Teani Karalouka and Teagan Thompson start the season in fine form.
This Feature Match should be a fascinating encounter as Capalaba look to extend their winning run, while Lions fight to get back in the winners’ circle.
