Football Queensland (FQ) has commenced its search to unearth the state’s next FIFA 20 superstar with today’s launch of the first ever Football Queensland E-Series.
The interactive online Football Queensland competition will give Queenslanders a much-needed football fix as Australia implements new measures to combat COVID-19.
FQ CEO Robert Cavallucci said the Football Queensland E-Series would provide a fun way for local football fans to engage with the sport during a challenging period.
“We know that the recent postponement of all football-related activity has been very difficult for people passionate about our game,” Cavallucci said.
The FIFA video game series has become a worldwide phenomenon in the growing eSports arena and boys, girls, men and women of all ages across Queensland are encouraged to stake their claim for state supremacy.
Queensland competitors will have the chance to prove their skills with controller in hand as they go head-to-head across multiple group matches and knockout encounters.
Entrants will be separated into pools based on location before progressing to a make-or-break Finals Series where the true experts emerge.
“It is crucial our football community unites together at this time, and to have the opportunity to do that by exploring the eSports space with the launch of the Football Queensland E-Series is extremely exciting,” Cavallucci said.
“We invite all Queenslanders to join in the fun and do their region proud.”
The Football Queensland E-Series will comprise two separate tournaments, one staged on PlayStation 4 and the other on Xbox One, allowing gamers to choose their preferred console.
All the action of the Football Queensland E-Series will be documented across the FQ website and social media channels.
Registrations to participate are now closed. Stay tuned to the dedicated Football Queensland E-Series page for more information.
More details on the E-Series competition structure and rules will be announced soon.
