Football Queensland (FQ) has established a new Club Development Unit to strengthen football clubs across the state by providing targeted support and services.
“Our clubs are the lifeblood of the sport and it is vital that we continue supporting them to ensure they have the right tools to grow even stronger as the season resumes, and are able to provide the best possible environments for Queensland players,” FQ Chief Executive Officer Robert Cavallucci said.
“FQ’s Club Development Unit will draw on expertise and experience from across Football Queensland to focus closely on delivering supportive services across grassroots and community clubs in three key areas; Technical, Governance and Administration, and Member Services.
“The unit will roll out a variety of support measures including advanced education opportunities for coaches and referees, technical assessments, development workshops, and Football Federation Australia’s National Club Development Program.
“The Club Development Unit will also oversee the implementation of a number of new initiatives and programs based on consultation and capacity building, designed to lift the standard of delivery and ensure clubs are providing quality participation experiences.
“We’re also thrilled to confirm the appointments of Davide Bertamini and Tom Laxton to lead the establishment of the Club Development Unit. The two A Licensed coaches represent Australia’s most exciting new football coaching and technical talent.
“Davide joins Football Queensland to lead a new direction in the coach education space, and will assist with improving the standard of coaching in both regional and metropolitan areas. Davide joins us following work with Football Victoria, Football Federation Australia and Hyundai A-League clubs Melbourne Victory and Central Coast Mariners.
“Tom will be driving the monitoring and development of talent across Queensland. Previously the Technical Director of Brisbane City FC, Tom has a strong background in working within professional academies in the UK.
“We’re excited to welcome Davide and Tom to the team and look forward to communicating more information about the Club Development Unit over the coming weeks along with the important initiatives the unit will be tasked with overseeing.”
