Logan Lightning secured the Football Queensland Premier League (FQPL) double after coming from behind to prevail 2-1 over SWQ Thunder in Friday night’s dramatic Grand Final at Perry Park.
Adam Edgar converted a penalty in the first half of extra-time to complete the comeback after team-mate Jed Brown forced another 30 minutes with a late leveller for Logan.
The Premiers had trailed for most of the match following an early own goal that gave Thunder the advantage.
Brown’s equaliser deep into normal time and Edgar’s nerveless spot-kick ultimately turned the contest and earned Logan a Premiership-Championship double in 2020.
It made for a thrilling opening to the Kappa Festival of Football, which continues with the back-to-back NPL Women’s and NPL Men’s Grand Finals on a huge Saturday at Perry Park.
The Women’s match between Lions FC and Logan kicks off at 4:30pm, before Lions face Olympic FC in the Men’s decider at 7:30pm.
