Football Queensland (FQ) and Peninsula Power FC have today confirmed the withdrawal of Peninsula Power FC’s Under 23 team from the National Premier Leagues (NPL) Queensland Women’s competition.
Peninsula Power FC has advised that they will be unable to field an Under 23 team for the remainder of the season, however are committed to fielding a Senior NPL Women’s team and an Under 14 NPL Women’s team in 2021.
Peninsula Power FC remains fully committed to the development of female players of all ages, and will work with Football Queensland to ensure the continued delivery of a strong women’s program moving forward.
The 2021 NPL Women’s Under 23 competition will consist of 16 teams for the remainder of the season, with Under 23 teams to follow their Senior Women’s side when the competition split occurs following one full round of home and away fixtures.
Matches already played by Peninsula Power FC’s Under 23 team this year will be recorded as a bye, while all remaining matches will also become a bye for their scheduled opponents.
