Football Queensland today confirmed the draw for the upcoming Talent Support Program State Carnival, which will be held during the final week of June at Meakin Park in Brisbane.
The TSP State Carnival will kick off on Monday 28 June and conclude on Friday 2 July, with more than 500 boys and girls from across Queensland set to test themselves against the best-of-the-best in their respective age groups.
FQ State Technical Director Gabor Ganczer said the State Carnival will provide an excellent opportunity for identified regional players to play against their counterparts in other regional and metropolitan zones.
“We are excited to welcome some of Queensland’s most talented young footballers to our TSP State Carnival,” said Ganczer.
“Meakin Park will be a hive of activity as teams from the Far North, North, Mackay, Central Queensland, Wide Bay and South West zones meet SEQ Metro sides.
“Also participating in the Carnival will be Brisbane Roar Academy Boys’ teams, as well as the QAS Girls and Select U13/U14 and U15/U16 teams from the NPL Queensland Women’s competition.
“Games will be held on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, with an Education Day for all participants scheduled on the Wednesday.
“Queensland is an enormous state, so these carnivals are fantastic talent identification opportunities for regional footballers as well as those from the city.
“We have already seen the success of these carnivals as both regional and metro TSP players have been identified by A-League academies, NPL and QAS programs, and junior national teams.
“All games will be recorded and uploaded to an online video platform to allow for talent ID by Football Australia Junior National Team coaching staff.
“These carnivals have been in place for three years and those repeated touch points are crucial opportunities in the talent development pathway.
“I am looking forward to seeing our best young Queensland footballers in action.”
