Football Queensland has today released the 2022 draws for the National Premier Leagues (NPL) Queensland, FQPL 1 and FQPL 2 Men’s and Women’s competitions.
The NPL Queensland season officially commences on Friday, 25 February with the Football Foundation Cup clash between reigning NPL Men’s Premiers Peninsula Power and newly promoted side Brisbane City FC, before Round 1 of the NPL Women’s competition gets underway on Friday, 8 April.
The 2022 season will also feature the launch of the FQPL 2 Women’s competition as the new football pyramid delivers connected competitions from the NPL Queensland through to the FQPL 6.
“We’re delighted to begin releasing the draws for the 2022 competitions which have been developed following consultation with clubs at all levels of the game,” FQ CEO Robert Cavallucci said.
“Despite the disruptions to the 2021 season caused by the impacts of COVID-19, Football Queensland was proud to deliver a full season across all competitions last year.
“2021 also saw the launch of the groundbreaking new state-wide women’s competition, the Kappa Women’s Super Cup, in an historic milestone for football in the state.
“2022 is set to be an even bigger year for competitions across Queensland as the Future of Football 2020+ reforms are implemented state-wide and the introduction of connected competitions further unites our game.”
