Ahead of the 2022 season, Football Queensland has provided an update on the U13-U18 competitions in the FQPL Development League.
The QAS Girls teams previously participating in these age groups have been moved from the FQPL Development to the NPL Development League for the 2022 season for technical and development reasons associated with the advanced program. This presented an opportunity for an additional club to join the FQPL Development League and subsequently remove the need for a bye in each round.
Football Queensland can confirm that Logan Lightning FC will fill this space in the FQPL Development League in 2022, bringing the total number of participating clubs to 16 following the departure of the QAS sides.
Several factors were considered in determining this outcome:
- Representation in ‘BYPL’/Div 1 age groups U12-16 in 2021
- Club Assessment (Technical Audit) rating in 2021
- Current affiliated and licensed status with Football Queensland
- Competition integrity and fixturing
Considering the above factors including the club’s strong Advanced club assessment Gold ratings and ability to fulfil the requirements of participation in the FQPL Development competition, Logan Lightning FC was determined to be the most suitable addition to the league for the 2022 season.
