FQ CEO Robert Cavallucci said clubs will work with FQ, the Roar and local schools to engage new participants to develop a love for football.
“Football is Queensland’s most popular team sport and these MiniRoos Kick-Off After School programs will ensure that girls have a pathway to join their local club,” said Cavallucci.
“Our staff will work in schools in the Ipswich, Brisbane, Moreton Bay and Logan local government areas alongside coaches from several local clubs.
“This will ensure that girls have a familiar face as they transition from school to club football, helping them to feel comfortable and welcome in a new environment.
“Over the past 12 months we have seen an incredible 71 per cent increase in women and girls’ participation in Queensland.
“These programs are part of several initiatives to support female participation ahead of the 2023 Women’s World Cup as we work towards achieving a 50-50 gender participation split by 2027.”
All participants will receive a free ticket to a Brisbane Roar Liberty A-League Women’s game and a participant pack including Brisbane Roar Merchandise.
