WinterFest22 has gotten off to a successful start with the first two days of matches now complete, as players from every region gather on the Sunshine Coast for the second edition of the event.
Delivered by Football Queensland in partnership with Sunshine Coast Council and Visit Sunshine Coast, over 100 matches have been played at Maroochydore FC across the first two days of the event which is showcasing some of the state’s top young talent.
Participants were also treated to a special guest appearance from former Socceroo and Brisbane Roar FC player Scott McDonald ahead of the Queensland Champions Cup matches.
“It has been fantastic to get WinterFest22 underway on the Sunshine Coast this week, with only minimal disruptions caused by the wet weather in the region,” FQ State Technical Director Gabor Ganczer said.
“We’re pleased that the sun is now shining, providing very good conditions for our young footballers not only to compete on-field but also to enjoy the attractions that the Sunshine Coast has to offer.
“We look forward to seeing more talent on show from players from across both regional and metro parts of the state across the coming days, and we hope all participants enjoy the rest of WinterFest22.
“On behalf of Football Queensland, thank you also to Maroochydore FC for their support in preparing the venue for this week’s carnival.”
