Football Queensland is pleased to announce the rollout of the Girls United Social Leagues, hosted by FQ venues and participating clubs throughout the state.
The launch of the Girls United Social Leagues provide opportunities for participants to build their fitness and confidence within the game as well as form social connections.
“Girls United Social Leagues will offer a more flexible, lower commitment playing format than traditional football over eight to ten week blocks, catering for women and girls new to football or those who have played in the past and are keen to get back into the game,” Football Queensland Senior Manager – Game Development Kate Lawson said.
“This league is a great option for women of all abilities and experience, who haven’t got the time to commit to the traditional training and game format of club football but want to join in a small sided league which focuses on fun and enjoyment.”
“The launch of community-based programs like the Girls United Social Leagues is just one example of how Football Queensland is striving to create opportunities for more women and girls to get involved in the game as we work towards 50/50 equal gender participation by 2027,” Football Queensland CEO Robert Cavallucci said.
“With the arrival of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™ on home soil, we are preparing for a rise of interest in football and catering to that demand is pivotal to FQ’s strategic objective of reaching 200,000 social participants by 2027.”
