Football Queensland has conducted an investigation into Surfers Paradise Apollo FC in relation to the eligibility of players participating in the Mitre FQPL Champions League Men Final.
Following this investigation, it has been determined that Surfers Paradise Apollo FC fielded three (3) ineligible players.
Accordingly and in line with the Football Queensland Rules of Competition, the following sanction has been determined:
- The result of the match will be overturned and recorded as a 3-0 win in favour of Across the Waves FC;
- Surfers Paradise Apollo FC to be fined $1,000;
- Surfers Paradise Apollo FC’s highest ranked Senior Men’s team to receive a three (3) point deduction for the 2024 season and begin the season on –3 points;
- The three (3) players are charged under offence code 21-01 ‘Breach of Football QLD Rules and Regulations or FA National Registration Regulations relating to registration’ from Table E of the FQ Disciplinary Regulations and suspended for eight (8) matches, with seven (7) matches suspended and activated by another breach of registration regulations during the 2024 season.
Football Queensland will continue to work with the club to ensure compliance with the Rules of Competition moving forward.
