Football Queensland is excited to confirm the shortlisted players and coaches for the Queensland men’s and women’s state teams set to vie for selection in the final training squads to face Victoria and Brisbane Roar FC during the 2024 Mitre Festival of Football.
“We are thrilled to announce the shortlisted players for the men’s and women’s Queensland state teams, with each of these players having showcased great talent throughout the 2024 NPL season,” General Manager – Football & State Technical Director Gabor Ganczer said.
“Our shortlist squad of 42 players and 4 coaches has been assembled through a thorough evaluation of performance metrics gathered from the 2024 NPL Queensland season and we are confident that the training squads, selected from this list, will display the very best of Queensland football.
“The team selection process has highlighted the incredible depth of talent within our state’s football community and with only 27 players and 2 coaches, one head coach and one assistant coach, to be selected for each men’s and women’s final training squads, this is a uniquely exciting opportunity for our top performers to shine on a major stage.
“We’re looking forward to showcasing Queensland’s standout players and coaches as we prepare for the highly competitive matches against the best Football Victoria and Brisbane Roar FC have to offer.”
The Queensland shortlisted state team squad selection process, overseen by Football Queensland’s Technical Department, was based on various player performance metrics and Hudl Wyscout data analytics, Team of the Week appearances, 3-2-1 votes throughout the season, and Team of the Season votes submitted by NPL Queensland Head Coaches.
The Queensland state teams will play the following games:
- Friday, 13 September – Queensland Men vs. Brisbane Roar Men
- Saturday, 21 September – Queensland vs. Victoria (Men and Women)
- Saturday, 5 October– Queensland Women vs. Brisbane Roar Women
