Football Queensland is pleased to announce the appointment of Meghan McCartney to the role of Manager – Far North & Gulf.
Meghan brings extensive experience in sports management across both grassroots and elite environments, having held key roles with Queensland Cricket and Northern Territory Cricket. She has also worked closely in strengthening development programs, player services and community engagement, giving her a strong foundation to support football across the region.
In addition to her professional experience, Meghan has been actively involved in the sporting community through coaching, player support and a range of volunteer roles. She is passionate about creating inclusive and positive environments for all participants.
Speaking on her appointment, Meghan shared that her commitment lies in strengthening pathways and participation in the Far North, while creating inclusive environments that support the long-term growth of football at all levels.
“I’m most looking forward to building strong relationships with clubs, players, coaches and the broader football community, and working together to grow the game across the Far North and Gulf,” McCartney said.
“Having grown up regionally, I understand the unique challenges and opportunities of operating and competing in a regional sporting environment. This role gives me the opportunity to help shape the future of football here by creating more positive experiences for clubs, players and volunteers, while working on improving participation and the overall development of the football experience in the region.
“Uniting and empowering our football community is key. By fostering a strong sense of regional identity and collaboration within the Northern Conference, I look forward to creating greater opportunities for participants across the Far North and Gulf.
“There is a real sense of pride, resilience and commitment within our football community. The region has such a strong history and so much potential, and I’m looking forward to playing a role in guiding it into the next phase of growth.”
