Following the conclusion of an investigation, Football Queensland has determined that Willowburn FC fielded an ineligible player in its Willowburn Black team for 12 fixtures of the 2026 Darling Downs Under 16/17 JL competition.
Accordingly and in line with the Rules of Competition, the results of these matches have been overturned and recorded as a 3-0 win in favour of the opposition team.
Willowburn Black now fall to 5th on the competition ladder, with each team previously positioned 2nd to 5th moving up one place and Willowburn White subsequently awarded the Premiership.
As a result of the revised ladder positions, Willowburn Black are no longer eligible to participate in the Finals Series and Willowburn White will progress directly to the Grand Final following the overturning of their Semi Final result against Willowburn Black.
To ensure all eligible teams are afforded the opportunity to participate in the Finals Series based on the amended competition standings, Gatton FC, who now finish 4th on the ladder, will play Highfields FC in the Preliminary Final. The winner of this fixture will then progress to the Grand Final to face Willowburn White.
Football Queensland appreciates the understanding and cooperation of all impacted clubs as these adjustments are implemented to maintain the integrity of the competition in accordance with the Rules of Competition.
