A new independent research project is being conducted for Natural Hazards Research Australia by researchers at Macquarie University, the University of Southern Queensland and the Queensland University of Technology. The purpose of this research is to hear and learn from the personal experiences of people who were impacted or threatened by floods in 2022, across Queensland and NSW.
Every story is important. By contributing your personal experience to this research, you can help improve community safety and influence future policy. Results will also be provided to the relevant emergency services and government departments to reduce future flood risk.
Researchers will be interviewing community members in August and early September, and there will be an online survey in September and October. Participation is entirely voluntary and strictly confidential.
If you would like to participate or know someone who would, please visit this website for registration and more information: www.naturalhazards.com.au/floods2022
If you would like to speak to someone before registering, you can email lead researcher A/Prof Mel Taylor on floods2022@mq.edu.au or call 02 9850 9955.
