Following the Queensland Government announcement today of a three-day lockdown in parts of the state from 6pm this evening, all football activity will be suspended in South East Queensland and Townsville City.
The suspension of all football activity includes any and all forms of training sessions, matches and all other football-related gatherings, and will take effect from 6pm today, Tuesday 29 June 2021 for all participants and clubs in the areas affected by the Queensland Government lockdown.
The three-day lockdown period applies to Townsville City, Magnetic Island, Palm Island and the following SEQ Local Government Areas: Noosa, Sunshine Coast, Ipswich, Logan, Redlands, Moreton Bay, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Scenic Rim, Lockyer Valley and Somerset.
The current suspension of football activity will remain in place until 11:59pm on Friday, 2 July. All fixtures and football activity scheduled for Saturday, 3 July and Sunday, 4 July can proceed as planned, with any further updates to be provided in the coming days based on information from Queensland Government.
All TSP State Carnival matches scheduled for the coming days at Meakin Park and Mappas Oval have been cancelled due to the suspension of football activity, with today’s matches to proceed as planned. Further information will be communicated to participants and families directly.
The WinterFest event scheduled to begin next Wednesday, 7 July at Meakin Park will proceed as planned until further advice is provided by Queensland Government.
Training and football activity in other parts of the state unaffected by the lockdown may continue, however any participants who have been in South East Queensland, Townsville City, Magnetic Island and Palm Island since 6pm Tuesday 29 June 2021 are required to follow the lockdown restrictions even if they are currently located outside of the affected regions.
