Football Queensland is excited to announce the return of the FQ Academy State Championships to Moreton Bay in 2026, to be held from Tuesday, 7 July to Saturday, 11 July 2026 in partnership with City of Moreton Bay.
The 2026 FQ Academy State Championships will welcome Under 13 to Under 16 Boys and Girls from every region across the state and will be held across two venues, South Pine Sports Complex and Moreton Bay Sports Complex.
FQ State Technical Director Tom Laxton said the expansion of the event would provide more young Queenslanders with the opportunity to participate in one of the most crucial events on Football Queensland’s talent development calendar.
“The FQ Academy State Championships are an important player development and talent identification event for players from every part of the state as we welcome teams from the FQ Academy Leagues and the statewide FQ Academy Emerging Program,” Laxton said.
“More teams than ever before will participate in an expanded edition of the event this year, showcasing the skills of our most talented emerging players as they compete in a high-performance environment in front of FQ talent identification and technical staff.
“As we look ahead to the 2026 CommBank Emerging Matildas Championships and CommBank Emerging Socceroos Championships in April, the FQ Academy State Championships continue to play an integral role in the selection process for our future state teams as part of our ‘One Queensland’ approach to talent identification, which delivers opportunities for talented players in every region.
“On behalf of Football Queensland, I’d like to thank City of Moreton Bay for their continued support of this event. We look forward to welcoming players, coaches, match officials and families from across Queensland to enjoy not only the on-field action, but also everything the region has to offer.”
City of Moreton Bay Mayor Peter Flannery said he is proud to welcome the FQ Academy State Championships back to the City in 2026.
“Events like this not only showcase the next generation of Queensland football stars, they also strengthen the pathways that help young athletes chase their dreams,” said Mayor Flannery.
“We’re passionate about supporting grassroots sport and creating opportunities for local talent to shine.
“Welcoming hundreds of players, coaches, officials and families to our world‑class facilities is a great boost for our community and our local economy.
“Hosting the FQ Academy State Championships is a fantastic win for City of Moreton Bay.
“We’ve invested in quality sporting infrastructure to ensure young athletes have access to the best possible facilities, and it’s great to see that recognised with major events returning to our city.
“We look forward to welcoming players and their families to South Pine Sports Complex and Moreton Bay Sports Complex, and we can’t wait to see our community get behind this fantastic event.”
South Pine Sports Complex will play host to all boys’ fixtures as part of the FQ Academy State Championships, while girls’ fixtures will be held at Moreton Bay Sports Complex.
