Following consultation with the Football Queensland Congress, the Football Queensland Board has decided to retain the existing 2026 fee structure for the 2027 season, with modest adjustments to reflect inflation and changes to the treatment of transaction and technology costs.
Our responsibility is to make decisions in the best interests of football across Queensland. That means listening to our clubs, being prepared to reconsider our approach when needed and making decisions that are practical for the people who deliver football in our communities.
While we remain confident in the objectives behind the previously proposed Competition Access Fee (CAF) model, we recognise that it represented a significant change for clubs, many of which rely heavily on volunteers.
Having carefully considered the feedback and the practical challenges of implementation, the Board believes retaining the existing structure for 2027 is the most sensible way forward.
What this means for 2027 fees
Football Queensland will retain the familiar fee structure used in previous seasons, including individual player enrolment fees and applicable team and license fees.
The 2027 player enrolment fees will include two adjustments:
- Transaction and technology costs: Following changes to card surcharging rules, costs previously charged separately at checkout will now be incorporated into the published FQ player enrolment fee. These costs are not additional revenue retained by Football Queensland.
- A modest fee adjustment: After more than seven years without an increase to player enrolment fees, a modest adjustment will help maintain the delivery of statewide football services and programs while continuing to keep football affordable.
The Queensland Premier League and FQ Academy League team fees will be released separately and directly to clubs across each region, and will also be displayed in the Participation License approval process in Squadi. These fees reflect a 6% increase on 2026 which is reflective of a low base and the extensive inflationary pressures across the game.
In addition to changes to the 2027 Football Queensland enrolment fee, community team fees will increase by approximately $2 per player on average.

Football Queensland remains committed to responsible financial management, supporting our clubs and keeping football affordable and accessible for Queenslanders.
