Football Queensland has today announced the composition of the Senior Men’s and Women’s leagues in the SEQ Conference for 2022.
FQ CEO Robert Cavallucci said the 2022 season would be a landmark moment for football in Queensland.
“For the first time, the game in Queensland is united by a common framework and purpose with the rollout of connected competitions,” said Cavallucci.
“Two years ago we identified connected competitions as a key priority in our 2020-2022 Strategic Plan, so this is another example of FQ delivering on its commitments.
“Aspirational clubs in the South Coast, Sunshine Coast and Darling Downs now have the opportunity to work their way up the pyramid all the way to the NPL.
“We have already seen the results of the new pyramid in action with South Coast Premiers Surfers Paradise Apollo set to join the FQPL 2 competition in 2022 after defeating Brisbane’s Bayside United in the FQPL 2 play-off.”
From 2022, the SEQ Men’s Conference will include the NPL Queensland through to the local region based FQPL 3 & 4 divisions and the Brisbane FQPL 3 to 6.
The SEQ Women’s Conference includes the NPL Queensland through to the local region based FQPL 3 divisions.
FQ will continue to work with regional clubs over the coming months to finalise the structures and composition of the Central and North Conferences.
